KUALA LUMPUR: Benalec Holdings Bhd has secured a contract to undertake the construction, completion and maintanence of rock revetment and associated works in Melaka for a sum of RM21.56 mil.
The job for Oriental Boon Siew (M) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Oriental Holdings Bhd , is for Phase 2A, Phase 3A and Phase 3B (275 acres) between Kuala Sungai Melaka and Kuala Sungai Seri Melaka, covering a distance of about 1.85km.
The project is expected to commence upon receipt of the necessary approvals and will be completed within 18 months.
According to a stock exchange filing, the project encompasses laying of rocks along the coastline of the Project Site as coastal protection works to avoid future erosion
“The Project is in line with the principal activities of Benalec, of which include the provision of marine construction services such as land reclamation, dredging, beach nourishment and coastal protection works.
“The Project is expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets per share of Benalec for the financial year ending 30 June 2018 onwards until expiry of the Project,” the company said in its filing.
